Data

Built for trust

ActivistARC is built on verified identity, trusted civic data, and transparent suggestion logic. We believe civic technology should be clear about where information comes from and how it is used.

Below is an overview of the data sources that power the app.

    Persona

We use Persona to verify user identities through secure ID verification and biometric confirmation. This process helps ensure that each ActivistARC profile is tied to a real individual before linking to their official voter file record.

Verification is used solely to confirm identity and protect platform integrity.

    TargetSmart

We use TargetSmart to access official voter file records, historic election results, and vote history information (e.g., whether a person voted and their vote method).

This data enables verified user profiles and allows users to securely link their official voter record to their account.

Users cannot alter voter file records within ActivistARC. We provide tools and information to engage directly with official election authorities when updates are needed.

    VoteAmerica

VoteAmerica powers voter tools such as registration checks, ballot request support, and election reminders. Their services help users understand how and where to vote and deliver timely reminders for upcoming elections.

    BallotReady

We use BallotReady for election data, candidate information, ballot measures, and officeholder profiles.

This powers ballot information, candidate research, and election-related features within the app.

    Congress.gov

Federal bills and legislative data are sourced from Congress.gov.

This enables users to research bills, track legislation, and explore federal lawmaking activity.

    Federal Register

Executive orders and federal agency regulations are sourced from the Federal Register.

This ensures users can review official executive orders and agency regulations directly from authoritative government records.

    Plural

We use Plural to provide access to state-level bills and legislative activity.

This allows users to track and research legislation across state governments.

    CourtListener

Judicial cases, court decisions, and legal opinions are sourced from CourtListener, maintained by the Free Law Project.

This gives users visibility into judicial activity and rulings across jurisdictions.

    OpenAI

ActivistARC uses artificial intelligence tools, including OpenAI, to support its summary and suggestion engine.

After completing the voter survey, users receive suggestions aligned with their stated beliefs, interests, and engagement preferences. AI assists in organizing and generating relevant suggestions, but users remain in control and can adjust or disable their preferences at any time.

Personalized content summaries and suggestions are generated based on your stated preferences and survey responses.
